WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture promotes balance and relief for an array of problems. It is based on the idea that good health is determined by a balanced flow of Qi (pronounced chee) or energy. According to Traditional Oriental Medicine, the body is an intricate system of organs connected to pathways called meridians, and good health depends upon the flow of Qi and blood. Stimulating appropriate points on the meridians causes blocked energy to be released and the system's balance can be restored.

The Western approach to medicine has found that acupuncture promotes healing by stimulating the nervous system's release of cortisols and endorphins into the blood. These substances are naturally produced by the body to reduce pain and inflammation.

Acupuncture can not only be used to treat illness and manage pain, but promotes good health through prevention.
